I know… you’re not surprised. Believe it or not, though, I actually wander through my library occasionally and look for books to cull. Granted, this generally happens right before a trip to Elliott Bay. No point in making room on the shelves if you’re not planning to get more books to fill them up.
The last time I dragged a pile of books to the trade-in counter, I found it closed for the bookstore’s move to their new location. Woe is me. I lugged my heavy bag back home, stopping at every used bookstore along the way, but no one else was buying what I had to offer. As a result, I’ve had a to-sell pile sitting next to my bookshelf for months.
Glancing at the stack the other day, I was struck by a brilliant idea. Art! I grabbed The Scarlet Letter from the middle of the pile and started tearing. Behold!

I thought, since there are a lot of pages in The Scarlet Letter, I’d give the first couple of these away. The first one was won in a contest on my Twitter stream. The second one goes to someone here.
Here’s how to win: Go to my Etsy store and find your favorite item. Post it in the comments and tell me why you like it, what you’d do with it, or how you think it would be best displayed. In one week, I’ll choose a random commenter to receive a Scarlet Letter bookmark. Be sure to leave me some way to contact you—an email address or Twitter name. Good luck!

I like the Anarchist's Cafe (http://www.etsy.com/listing/50381817/the-anarchist-cafe-series-no-1-aceo) because it's got good composition and the colors remind me of a building that was burnt down because of anarchistic behaviors.
I'm excited and glad to see you're making book themed art.

I have to go with The Parcel. Just some fantastic composition & textures going on. The new bookmarks (& new shop photos) look great too
that is a fantastic idea. I wonder what Fahrenheit 451 would look like as a bookmark?
The Scarlet Letter No. 1 - Original Bookmark Collage is my favorite! I'd use it with my library books :)
Rainy Day Intrigue is my favorite. The silk veil frames the people perfectly and gives the illusion of us gazing at the rain-soaked passersby.
I love all of your art, especially the stories you create to explain each piece. My favorite, though, is Once Upon a Character No. 1 - Original Bookmark Collage. I can't help but wonder, did I know her? ;)
I recently bought a costume off of eBay, and it shipped from Hong Kong. The envelope it came in is so neat... haphazardly placed stamps with separate cancellations, an air mail sticker, a neat disc-and-string closure, all on thick yellow-brownish paper. I can't bear to throw it away, but I don't know what I'd do with it. Would you like it to possibly use in a collage someday? If so, send me your mailing address at dotkelidot@yahoo.
Great bookmarks! I think my favorite collage of yours is the Rainy Day Intrigue - http://www.etsy.com/listing/50458242/rainy-day-intrigue-mixed-media-collage - it would lovely displayed on my bookcase.

Jamie - I am now DYING to make a Fahrenheit 451 bookmark. I am going to look for an old copy next time there's a library sale.
Keli - I would LOVE to make something out of your envelope. I'll email you! And yes, I suspect you did know her. Did you play in the Forgotten Realms campaign? The scraps are from Immith, the Rashemi witch/mistress of the Pool Boy.
My favorite is Pieces Remain because I'm attracted to the red. I'm like a bee buzzing around it.
I didn't know that you had an Etsy store! It was really fun to look through your work. :)
